31. März ab 18:00 bis 19:30
Edelweiss. (AUT 2023)

Black Community-Building in Wien
Mit:
– Anna Gaberscik (Regisseurin Edelweiss.)
– Vanessa Spanbauer (Historikerin)
– Emmeraude Banda (Black Voices Volksbegehren)
Moderation: Michael Okoli

1. April ab 18:00 bis 19:30
She’s Gotta Have It (USA 1986)

Prince Zeka Live
DJ Efex

Community Work

Wiener Städtische, Stadt Wien, Triangle Studios, Speisen ohne Grenzen, D/ARTS Projektbüro für Diversität und urbanen Dialog, Through our Eyes

We black people and people of color shape and shape this city as part of the Viennese population. Our history in Austria goes back centuries. Nevertheless, we are confronted with everyday discrimination and sometimes open violence. To negate this, we organize Black Movie Days at CAPE 10 (Alfred Adler Straße 1, 1100 Wien) and cordially invite you to discuss, celebrate, eat, and dance with us.

Against this background, the Black Movie Days – Favoriten of Volkshilfe Community Works and CAPE 10 strengthen the BIPC community (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) in Vienna.

31 March from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m
Edelweiss. (AUT 2023)

The documentary focuses on the often shocking reality of people of color in Austria. It is an open presentation of the perspectives of many people in this country who have different connections to Austria; some call it home, others have made it their so-called „home“ and still, others would never call it that.
Subsequent discussion:
Black community building in Vienna
With:
– Anna Gaberscik (Director Edelweiss.)
– Vanessa Spanbauer (Historian)
– Emmeraude Banda (Black Voices Referendum)
Moderator: Michael Okoli

1 April from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m
She’s gotta have it/Nola’s Darling (USA 1986)

This film doesn’t only mark Spike Lee’s breakthrough as a director but is also considered the beginning of the New Black Cinema. Nola Darling lives as a young, self-determined woman in Brooklyn in the 1980s. She has relationships with three men of different characters at the same time. While all three want to win Nola as an exclusive partner, she fights for her freedom. Filmed in 1986 and is still more relevant than ever.
Followed by a Party:
Prince Zeka (Live)
DJ Efex on the Decks
Free entrance & free popcorn and streetfood by „Speisen ohne Grenzen“ (while stocks last)
